Overview
How it Works
Similar to a traditional on-site hackathon, but with a global twist.

Teams start working on their topics or projects at the same time all over the world at 00:00 UTC on October 17th for 24 hours.
5 max members per team
Each team can have a maximum of 5 members. It is encouraged to create a team with members from different locations.
Video submission for judging

- The PTx Innovation Challenge is a global event in which any PTx employee can participate. This event allows every participant to work on innovative projects for which there is no time in the regular business. It can be used to develop disruptive new technologies, realize iterative improvements, exclude or identify technologies for future solutions or simply to have a lot of fun and meet new colleagues.
- When is the PTx Innovation Challenge?
- The PTx Trimble Innovation Challenge takes place on October 17th, 2025. The Innovation Challenge will start at 00:00 UTC globally.
- Who can participate?
- All regular employees of PTx can participate. External employees are not eligible to participate.
- What is the team size for a project?
- The maximum team size of a single project is 5.
- Why do I need a team?
- We are better together. Great personalities can even increase their performance if they work together across location and subject area boundaries. You can also use this event to get in touch with previously unknown colleagues. So have fun exploring the great potential we have at PTx
- How can I participate?
- All you need for your participation is your direct manager's approval. If you got that, you can register as a participant and assign yourself to a project team (which you can easily create by yourself). In short: Everybody participating must be registered and assigned to a team. For further information, please refer to the "Registration" FAQ section.
Categories

- AI (Sensor evaluation, pattern detection, machine learning, ...)
- The AI category challenges participants to develop intelligent solutions that leverage sensor data and machine learning to solve real-world problems in agriculture and technology. This could involve analyzing environmental or biological data to detect patterns, predict outcomes, or automate decision-making.
- For example, a project might use AI to evaluate soil moisture sensor data and predict optimal irrigation times, helping to conserve water and improve crop yields. Another idea could be detecting early signs of plant disease through image recognition and pattern analysis. The goal is to combine data-driven insights with practical applications to support smarter, more sustainable farming.
